In this guide, learn about:
Note: The following information only applies to plans at a service. We also have help articles dedicated to portfolio planning.
Edit an open plan
On your service's or room's Planning tab under Open plans, tap any plan to edit it. The plan will open and you can select and edit any aspect of it.
You can learn more about how to add content and build your plans here.
When you're finished editing, tap Save and exit:
Duplicate a plan
If you have a plan you'd like to reuse, for example, a weekly planning template or a term plan structure you run each cycle, you can duplicate it instead of building it from scratch.
Duplicating a plan creates a new copy of the original plan, including all of its content (text, images, documents, and videos). The new plan appears in your Open plans area, ready to edit.
How to duplicate a plan
Navigate to your service's or room's Planning tab.
Find the plan you'd like to duplicate. You can duplicate both open and archived plans.
Select Duplicate.
A confirmation dialogue will appear. Tap Duplicate to confirm.
The duplicated plan will appear in your Open plans area with the same title as the original. You can then open it and edit the title, content, or any other details to suit your new planning cycle.
What gets copied when you duplicate a plan?
When you duplicate a plan, the following content is copied to the new plan:
All text, images, videos, and documents within the plan
The plan's layout and cell structure
Children linked to the plan
The following are not copied:
Comments from the original plan
Sharing settings: You'll need to share the new plan with families separately
Note: Plans with lots of images may take a moment to duplicate. A confirmation modal will appear while the plan is being copied. Wait for it to complete before navigating away.
Archive a plan
When you complete a planning cycle, or you simply don't need a plan anymore, you can archive it.
Archiving a plan keeps your Open plans area current and relevant, making it easier to find the plans you are working on.
Archived plans can still be accessed by educators at the service; they are just filed in a separate place from your open plans.
1. Archive an individual plan from its tile
Tap the arrow at the top-right corner of an active plan’s tile to archive:
2. Archive or reopen multiple plans from the Manage plans button
To archive multiple plans in one go, tap Manage plans and select as many plans as needed, before selecting archive at the top of the screen:
Either action will close and archive the plan(s), and they will now be listed in your Archived plans area:
You can comment on an archived plan, but you can't edit it. If you wish to edit it, you can reopen an archived plan at any time.
Reopening and editing an archived plan
To edit an archived plan you will need to reopen/restore it first. Navigate to the Archived plans area. This is specific to where it was originally archived (e.g. centre planning, room planning):
1. Reopen an individual plan from its tile
Tap the arrow at the top-right corner of an archived plan’s tile to reopen it:
2. Reopen multiple plans from the Manage plans button
To reopen multiple archived plans in one go, tap Manage plans and select as many plans as needed, before selecting Reopen at the top of the screen:
This plan will now appear in your Open plans area, and you can edit it just like any other open plan.
Deleting a plan
In any plan, select 'Delete' from the top right menu. You will be asked whether you wish to continue; selecting 'Yes' will delete the plan.
The plan will be deleted from the planning area of anyone with whom the plan had been shared.
Restore an accidentally deleted plan via the deleted items bin. Deleted plans can be restored for up to thirty days from deletion.
Frequently asked questions
Q: How long do archived plans stay archived/do archived plans get deleted after a time?
A: Indefinitely - archived plans stay at a service unless educators choose to restore or delete them.
Q. Can Family Admins/Parents access archived plans?
A. Family Admins/Parents can only access active plans you've shared with them. As soon as you archive a plan, they can no longer access it.
