What to consider before removing an educator from a service
Sharing work
Child notes and stories published to children's profiles will still be at your service as long as the child attends. Draft and pending stories will not be visible to anyone once the educator is removed - before removing the educator consider asking them to either publish their drafts or change the editor.
Shared draft stories will still be visible to all educators who were given view-only access even if the author has left. Encourage educators to either publish these drafts or change the editor before you remove them.
Planning is centre-centric, so any plans they owned or contributed to will stay at your service. Make sure they've either shared any plans they created with another Admin at your service or changed ownership of key plans before removing them. Plans can only be shared by the owner or an Admin who has had the plan shared with them.
Portfolio stories move with the educator's account, so they still have access to these even after leaving your service.
Routines and incident reports they created and published to children's profiles will still be at your service.
Reports are restricted to current teachers. This means as soon as an educator is removed, they will no longer appear in teaching trend or teaching activity reports. If needed, consider pulling these reports before removing the educator.
Admin status
If they were an admin on your service's account, make sure you still have other admins as there are important actions only they can take. We recommend a minimum of two. You can always check who is currently set up as an admin from your teacher’s page.
Security, accounts and passwords
If the educator has been using an email address associated with your service or company, get them to update the email address in their profile settings before removal. This frees up the email address for you in the future and allows the educator to continue accessing their personal profile using their own email address.
For security reasons, we strongly advise against group logins. However if you've chosen to have multiple educators using the same login details, ensure the password is changed each time an educator who had access leaves.
Removing an Educator
Only admin educators a service have the ability to remove educators.
Tap Menu at the top of the page and then click your early learning service's name to go to your profile page.
Tap the Teachers tab.
Find the educator you wish to remove and in the top right corner of their tile click the small arrow.
From the drop-down menu select Remove:
Before confirming you wish to remove the educator, a pop up will appear, showing all unshared content the educator has that you may lose access to.
This is to encourage you to speak with the educator to publish any content that needs to be shared before they leave.
If you need to arrange for content to be shared or published, you can select Cancel on the pop-up window and return to this page to remove the educator later.
