Screenshot protection for images in Storypark

Updated today

In this article:

What is screenshot protection?

Screenshot protection is a new feature that prevents screenshots from being taken while viewing images inside the Storypark app. This adds an extra layer of protection for the photos and moments you share within your Storypark community.

When someone attempts to take a screenshot of an image in the app, the screenshot will appear blank rather than capturing the image.

Which apps does this apply to?

Screenshot protection applies to images viewed within the following Storypark mobile apps:

  • Storypark for Educators on iOS and Android

  • Storypark for Families on iOS and Android

Note: Screenshot protection applies to the mobile apps only. It does not apply when using Storypark via a web browser.

How to get the update

To benefit from screenshot protection, you'll need to update your Storypark app(s) to the latest version.

On iOS (iPhone or iPad):

  1. Open the App Store

  2. Tap your profile icon in the top right corner

  3. Scroll down to see available updates

  4. Find Storypark for Educators or Storypark for Families and tap Update

On Android:

  1. Open the Google Play Store

  2. Tap your profile icon in the top right corner

  3. Tap Manage apps & device

  4. Find Storypark for Educators or Storypark for Families and tap Update

Tip: You can enable automatic app updates on your device so you always have the latest version of Storypark without having to update it manually.

Frequently asked questions

Does this mean my images are fully protected from being shared? Screenshot protection makes it harder to capture images directly from within the app, but it is not a complete guarantee against all methods of capturing an image (for example, using another device to photograph a screen). We recommend continuing to share images only with people you trust.

What if I try to take a screenshot and it doesn't go blank? Screenshot protection only works on updated versions of the Storypark apps. Make sure you and your community members have updated to the latest version. If you're on the latest version and still experiencing unexpected behaviour, please contact our support team.

Does this affect screenshots of other parts of the app (e.g. stories or text)? Screenshot protection applies specifically to images. It does not affect other content in the app such as story text or comments.

Why doesn't screenshot protection work in the web browser? Screenshot protection is currently limited to the Storypark mobile apps. This is because the feature relies on functionality inherent to mobile operating systems, which are not available in web browsers.
