Where to find writing tools
You'll find writing tools behind the A icon in the editor toolbar. They're available wherever you write in Storypark: stories, community posts and child notes.
Spelling and grammar
Check your writing for spelling and grammar so you can document with confidence and spend less time reviewing.
Apply to selected text:
Highlight the text you'd like to work with, then select the A icon in the editing toolbar and choose Fix spelling and grammar.
Select Discard all to revert to the original, or select Accept all to apply the changes. You can also discard or accept individual changes by using Discard or Accept on the highlighted change:
To check a whole story or post, tap the A icon without highlighting anything first.
Note: Spelling and grammar support is currently available for English language documentation. For content written in English and additional languages, we recommend selecting specific portions of text rather than applying it to the entire content.
Translating your text
Write in the language you're most comfortable in, then translate it for families and colleagues. Stories, child notes, and community posts can be written in almost any language.
Highlight the text you want to translate.
Tap the A icon and choose Translate to.
Pick the language you want from the menu.
Review the translation. Tap Accept to apply it, or Discard to keep what you had.
To translate a whole story or post, tap the A icon without highlighting anything first.
Story titles aren't translated, and if you translate something by mistake, tap undo to change it back.
Changing the tone
Adjust the voice of your child notes and community posts to suit the moment. There are ten tone options built for early childhood education:

Caring | Warm and empathetic, used to offer support, appreciation, or reassurance |
Celebratory | Energetic and uplifting, used to highlight achievements, milestones, or positive events |
Clear | Straightforward and respectful, used to share reminders, updates, or practical information |
Encouraging | Motivational and inclusive, gently inviting families to take part or contribute |
Formal | Structured and neutral, used for service policies, procedures, or official updates |
Friendly | Light, casual, and conversational, used for day-to-day updates and relaxed communication |
Informative | Practical and helpful, used to share useful information or explain something clearly |
Reflective | Thoughtful and narrative, used to share learning or reflect on experiences |
Urgent | Clear and direct, used for time-sensitive updates that require prompt attention |
Add text to a community post or note
Tap the A icon and choose Change tone.
Pick a tone from the list. Tap the question mark next to any tone to see what it does.
Compare your original with the suggested version.
Tap Accept to apply it, or Discard to keep what you had.
Turning writing tools off and on
If you're an independent service and you have writing tools, you can turn them off so that no one at your service can use them. Here's how:
Go to your service's edit page by tapping Edit next to your service name.
Find the AI writing tools setting under AI settings.
Switch writing tools off.
Save your changes.
To turn them back on later, follow the same steps and switch writing tools on again.
Network services can't change this themselves at the moment. To turn writing tools off for your service, contact your account manager or our support team.

No. Every suggestion is yours to accept or discard. Nothing changes until you tap Accept or Accept all.
