What's changing in the Storypark Families app

We're making the app easier to navigate and bringing more of what you do with your service into one place.

In this guide learn about:

The Storypark Families app is where you stay close to your child's day. Over the coming months we're making a few changes, like clearer names and updated icons. If you manage bookings and payments through Storypark or the Xap Smile app, you’ll see some changes there too.

We'll roll these changes out gradually and keep this article up to date as each one lands, so this is the one place to check what's new. Nothing you rely on is going away.

We’re rolling these changes out gradually, so you might not see everything at your service just yet. We’ll keep this article updated as each change becomes available.

What's new for everyone

A few areas of the app have clearer names, and the create button has moved. The content behind each name is exactly the same, nothing has been removed:

  • Home is now Journal. It's still where you'll find your child's stories and everything shared with you.

  • Community is now Messages. The same posts and conversations, with a name that better describes what it's for.

  • Me is now Settings. Your account details and preferences are all still here.

  • Activity has a new icon. Everything in it works just as it did before.

  • The create button (+) has moved to the top right. It now offers options based on where you are in the app, so what you can create fits what you're looking at.

If you manage bookings and payments through Storypark

If your service handles bookings and payments through Storypark, these will shortly move from Settings (previously Me) to a new Admin section.

There's nothing new for you to set up, and how your bookings and payments work isn't changing, they'll just be simpler to get to.

We'll update this section when it's available.

Coming soon: if you use the Storypark Families app and Xap Smile

You’ll soon be able to manage bookings and payments in the Storypark Families app, as well as in Xap Smile. Over time we’ll bring more of what you do in Xap Smile into the Families app, so everything for your child’s centre and their learning is in one place.

Your Xap Smile app keeps working in the meantime, so there's no need to remove it.

FAQs

Why are parts of the Xap app moving into Storypark?

Storypark and Xap have joined together as one company. We’re bringing what families use most into the Storypark Families app, so there’s one place to go for your child’s care and learning.

Do I still need my Xap app?

Yes, for now. Your Xap app will continue to work while we bring its features into the Storypark for Families app.
